Ultimately the way these weapons function is a very old quirk/bug with how original World of Warcraft was built. This is also correct and working as expected, and such effects will reduce the damage of attacks by such weapons by the amount of extra elemental damage specified in the weapon tooltip. That being said, it has been noticed by players that when using an elemental barrier such as a nature/frost/fire protection potion or a shield that absorbs a specific element, you will see an “absorbed (X)” message in the combat log. This is not noted in the combat log separately and is simply calculated as additional physical damage added to the weapon’s attack.
They do however still inflict extra damage in the amount specified in the tooltips. Start with Blizzard at long range, then switch to Arcane Explosion to clean up the last few stragglers at short range. We wanted to take a moment to clarify that the extra elemental damage from weapons such as Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, Iceblade Hacker, and Warblade of Caer Darrow are behaving as expected in WoW Classic and do not actually cause additional non-physical damage to the target. It may be possible to combine both methods of AOE. However, since you will take hits, don’t try it against giant packs. The entire rotation can be done while on the move. This method of AOE is fun and quite mobile. Also CoC’s snare doesn’t last as long as its cooldown so there may be a couple seconds when you face an unsnared pack. You will take damage with this method since it’s very hard to keep the range perfect. When CoC snare expires, hit targets with Frost nova.Just outside melee range, but still inside arcane explosion range. Goal is to position yourself so you’re at 5-10 yards from the pack. this is your main damage spell that actually kills the targets. This second method is less effective… you can’t do it on as large groups as the Blizzard method, but I found it quite fun in Vanilla. There is also a second method of AOE as a mage. Don’t be afraid to run and reset instead of pushing it and dying. Plan out which direction to run next to avoid aggroing anything.īasically, for a while, if anything goes wrong you’re kinda screwed. While you channel blizzard, be moving your camera around to look for patrols and/or enemies spawning near you that will potentially aggro you.
You can also just blink away if you have the mana for it.
#Wow classic +frost dmg or intel full
So I am planning on making this mage eventually into AOE farming machine, because as I imagine it will be one of the best ways of grinding for gold and easy levelling. Just started playing classic today and binged with my mage until level 11.
